TiVo is a service that provides A DVR player with TV. You would think that this would be available in many areas but it isn’t. That is one reason why TiVo is struggling to get into the market of consumers. They do not cater to everyone. They might do better in places that don’t have great cable service or where TV is not the same.

Currently, TiVo is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Taiwan. Another problem is that TiVo Boxes are not sold in Canada; they have to purchase their boxes here in the United States and then pay for shipping. They could also purchase boxes online. Now, the DVR players have be changed so the end users can work in Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands and South Africa.

When TiVo became available in each country, they did very well in sales because there was no other product on the market. Then cable companies began to market their own DVR players and the way of the TiVo went south. That is what happens when you don’t expand and you make things difficult for people who want to use the product. For example, Canada has the service but they can’t buy the box in their country so they have to buy them online or in the United States.

Why is that fair to them, if a company says “yes, we offer the product to your area”, then they should provide the accessibility to get the equipment. Now they have to pay for shipping. How is that Fair?
