It has a database program that lets the user who is dependant upon their location and by cable or satellite a service that lets them update to the TiVo headquarters and you can select and program from your home.

The show can be stored until the hard disk is full or until you erase it. TiVo also lets you record two week ahead if you choose. TiVo was and still is popular it has take a bit of a backseat because some of the cable service providers are now providing their customer with their own digital service recorders. TiVo can be purchased at places like Best Buy and other electronic stores and electronic departments in places like Wal-Mart.
